Nightscape: Journey into the Mysteries of the Sky by Mezan Studios
The idea for “Nightscape” was born out of a desire to explore the aftermath of the sudden disappearance of stars in a world deeply connected to them. Drawing inspiration from the richness of Arabic star legends, it aims to bring this legacy, which has not found enough space in mainstream culture, to the forefront. Developed from scratch since 2019 by a team with no practical game development experience under the leadership of Hamad K, Nightscape promises a world full of inspiring stories and reframing metaphors. In the game, we take on the task of returning the stars to their places as the character Layla, who travels through an ancient Arabian night world illuminated by the light of constellations at night. The process of returning the stars helps Layla combat mysterious creatures she encounters on her journey, solve puzzles, and explore this damaged world. Layla is accompanied on her journey by a cheerful goat kid, and interaction with the night sky is one of the game's core mechanics.

Layla's flying goat, who travels with her and is much more helpful than we think, helps her overcome various obstacles. Enemies such as scorpions encountered along the way are destroyed using weapons such as arrows. In addition, Layla's powers are used to solve various puzzles such as opening closed bridges or creating floods by rain. The game's world attracts attention with its colorful design and supernatural elements.
Nightscape also throws players into a fight full of challenging bosses, such as giant scorpions. It is necessary to think strategically to defeat these bosses. At the end of each great battle, we manage to send the stars that fell to the earth back to their original places in the sky. Nightscape, which is based on an astronomy knowledge based on Middle Eastern and Greek astronomy, was inspired by many adventure games such as Journey.

Mezan Studios is using the knowledge of cultural astronomers to develop “Nightscape,” aiming to deliver an experience that enriches both the gameplay and narrative of the game. The demo on display shows that the game is still in development, and the studio is currently working on the production phase. It will be playable on PC, PS5, and Xbox, and there is no release date yet for the game.
